How do I install it?
Open the downloaded DMG and drag Yapp to Applications. Launch Yapp and allow Microphone and Accessibility access. You’ll find Yapp in the menu bar.
Why Accessibility permission?
Yapp needs it to detect your shortcut in other apps, check the focused text field, and paste your transcription. Microphone access is used to record your speech.
Does my voice leave my Mac?
No. Never. Your voice is transcribed entirely on your Mac using a bundled model. No cloud transcription, no uploads, no transcript history.
What if Fn opens the emoji picker?
In System Settings → Keyboard, set “Press 🌐 key to” to “Do Nothing.” You can also choose Right Option or Right Control from Yapp’s Shortcut menu.
Which Macs are supported?
This download is for Apple silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later. English dictation is supported. The app is Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple.
